    The Parat is a Rocket with a slightly different (narrower) TTO knob. It will shave exactly like a rocket from 1956-1962 or thereabouts.

    I know it's a rocket, the Q was how it fares vs the flare or the big boy HD....

    Or let's just say so.....
    HD =10
    Flare=6
    Parat=?

    It's easier to go off the typical Gillette adjustable settings.

    7 - American Red Tip
    5-6 - No. 58
    5 - HD
    4 - Rocket/Parat
    3-4 LD
    3 - American Flare Tip
    1-2 American Blue Tip

    Exactly the same as a Rocket. I'd call it a 4-4.5) It might be perceived as slightly more aggressive due to the extra weight in the head. I shaved with mine this morning, it's one of my favorite razors.

    They look great. What do you believe the difference is between the Rocket and the Super Speed?

    I like my Super Speeds (have many) but the build quality for one. They feel more substantial (solid) and the TTO movement is way smoother. My Rocket Red Tip weights slightly more than my American Red Tip - which is no light weight. The shave quality is similar (excellent). The conventional wisdom is they are slightly more aggressive. Maybe? I think the added weight may account for the more aggressive feeling. Anyway I luv em. The HD 500 and Parat are very smooth.

    I thought all the Flares produced in England were the rocket style, but I have a sad one coming in that is very similar to our 50's Flares.

    This is one of my favorite threads on here. Bump it!

    I have a red tip rocket on the way, excited to compare to the American version.

    After I received it, I found it had lost its standard English Flare end; its internal threads were badly corroded and stripped. I'll be doing a transplant of a handle and internal shaft; due that I like the extra weight, I'm looking for a donor with a bad head ... maybe a bad red tip or aristocrat.
