I have made leather, linen, and a few cloth strops. Most of what I have seen nano cloth used for is to push Blades up way beyond where stones can get them. The problem is that you can really maintain the edge at that level, because whiskers will damage it, and a normal strop is much more course. I havent used them, but that was what I found when I looked into it.

First, I am assuming that you meant "..problem is that you can't maintain the edge...". This brings me to a question: About at what level CAN you maintain the edge? 3 microns? 2? 1? 0.5?

Yes, sorry. Typo on a phone. I maintain very comfortable edges with leather and linen strops. I do have a pasted linen strop with Chromium Oxide that I use when a razor starts to tug a little. I can usually go back to this strop about 4 times before it needs to go back to a hone. Once the pasted strop doesn't work, I will go back to one of my natural finishers. I have no idea what miron level that would be at. I am not familiar enough with the various sprays and pastes that are sometimes used on strops. I know that some people use them in place of finishing stones, but am not sure how to do that.

I Use o.5 Chro/Ox & 0.2 High Quality Red Rhodium Pastes & I Can Maintain My SRs for around 18 Months in a Rotation without Going Near a Stone for a Refresh..Smooth as Butter an All..Some Guys Get into Fancy Microscopes & Nano this & High Tech that..Some of this Stuff Costs a Fortune & there Always Will be Techno Buffs in the SR World Like Anything Else..:)

So is the general thought that nano cloth and the spray an unnecessary? From You-Tube, I've seen people prepare razors with more technical processes than NASA building a space probe. Then I think of how my great grand dad probably shaved, by stropping a razor on the back of a horse and calling it good.
