Yes. I actually prefer the long blade in the Dovo Shavette. It simulates an actual straight razor. Not exactly, but close enough. I cork the long blades when they are new, one quick pass. Takes the edge off and the imperfections of the steel and makes it a little smoother and comfortable shave. Plus, I get 8-10 good shaves from it....:shaver

Hm. Seems like I was doing the Anything But Gillette theme without knowing it. Until a couple days ago, at least.

I was using a LORD tech clone I picked up a few years ago. It's a very reliable all-metal modern production razor you can pick up for about $12 on Amazon. I was using it with Personna Lab Blue blades and Barbasol canned cream.

And then I went back to my Gillette 50s-era TTO. I used to know the make and model, but it really doesn't matter. It, too, is a good shaver.

Anyway, if anyone's looking for cost-efficient modern production razor, check out LORD.

Another quick two pass morning shave. This razor pulls it off without issue, well worth the $15 investment, and it has indeed earned a spot in the dream team

Sorry, no DE shave today. Day is kind of gloomy and wet. Running a little late, but still wanted an acceptable shave. Brought out the OB V1, and it was better than acceptable. Exceptional really, right about 5 minutes. The only razor made that can literally give you the smooth, chiseled look without much thought to the shave process at all.... Good shaving tool....
Have a great day and great shaves Gents....;)

I don't see a lot of love for Blades Grim, I have both Smolder and Cinder and love them! SWMBO is also a big fan of Smolder so it will always have a place in my den.

Very nice close shave. The Feather has a longer handle then most of the razors I use. That has never been a problem though.

Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum blades
    Alluminati Envy White brush
    Supply Provision tallow shave creams
Alum and Supply Provision matching postshave balms

Since Tuesday, I have been back in the Non-Gillette DE fold, using my Rockwell 6s DE razor. I expect to use it to the end of the month. I have been continuing to try all the shave creams in my inventory, lately three from Supply Provision. When I am done the creams, I will move on to soaps. To assist in evaluating the creams, I have used the same brand of blade throughout and at least kept the razor consistent for a week at a time. I started using a Schick Krona, went off the rails with a Gillette Tech, but am now back in non-Gillette territory with the Rockwell.

Here is my most recent shave kit:

Ikon X3 Slant W/ RazoRock Barberpole handle
    Treet New Steel
    The Blades Grim "Cinder"
    Stirling 24MM Synthetic
    Barbasol Pacific Rush ASB

I know there are a lot of people out there that say a slant razor is a gimmick. Sure you can achieve the same slicing effect by using a sliding or scything stroke but with a slant head you don't ever have to even think about it, the razor does the work for you. That being said the Ikon X3 head is an amazing piece of machined aluminum, the tolerances are tight, and there is no overhang of the blade tab. The small blade gap and exposure makes for a very mild feeling shave, but the torqued blade really ups the game in efficiency. The Treet New Steel and the X3 were a perfect pairing last night. I could not feel the blade on my skin nor could I feel any sensation that the whiskers were being cut. I was simply wiping away lather and the whiskers went with it. Three passes brought home the baby and I finished up with some Barbasol Pacific Rush ASB, not that I needed a balm but the scent pairs up pretty well with Cinder, and SWMBO likes it too! Have a great day my friends!

No early shave this morning. The shave with the OB yesterday was fabulous with barely any stubble feel this morning. So I skipped it, but by punch out time it felt a little more raspier. It was a nice shower and very nice early evening shave....... Have a great evening and shaves Gents. :happy088:
