I prefer straight or slight bends, but part of the reason is I don't have a good B&M nearby where I can inspect the pipe before purchase. My experience buying on the internet has been that full bent pipes are more likely to be misdrilled and have difficulty passing a pipe cleaner.
I like straights and quarter bents for the house, full bent is great for the car. Same rationale as above.
Did the fold and stuff today for the ride to work. Went good! pic is to big. I posted it across the street
I don't know really. It was a Birthday gift. When I got it though it looked like it had not been used much. Came from a junk store I think.
Enjoying some 2015 Dunhill Flake in my Savinelli deLuxe Milano 1028, yes 4 digit, from what I can find made 1963 or earlier.
Several pipes of CM/OJK mix in MM Legend with bent orange plastic stem while doing yardwork. Now finishing a bowl of Dunhill Flake in Sav Series III Lumberman
Congratulations on the British handmade Canadian, Chris. You know I love a Canadian! I love the look, plus I feel there is a genuine benefit to the longer wooden shank. Tony
I started out, as many do, liking bents; but as time has gone on, I've come to much prefer straights and quarter bents, and the Canadian family in particular. @Erik Redd made a very good point about the draft hole drilling. Even when buying in a B&M, most bents, until you get on up in price, just aren't as well drilled. With a straight, even if the hole is slightly off center, as long as it is on the bottom of the bowl, it will smoke well.
Guys, still not back in the saddle with my pipes. Turned out I did not have an infection, asthma then became suspect, as I grew up with asthma. Had a breathing test, Dr. said I had a smooth constriction in bronchial tubes, vs the spasms you get with asthma. So a deep allergy issue was the next thing to treat without more tests. Symptoms are improving after treatment, and if it continues to improve, I hope to get back to piping soon. Smoking pipes, incidentally, has never triggered allergies in years past.
