I have always liked the wooden handles on the old lather catchers. Since I got my Gem Jr. Lather Catcher from @wchnu , I have toyed with the idea of making a wooden handle for it. So, after much thought, I jumped in and made a prototype.

I used a 3/4 inch dowel for the project. I found that a #8 sheet metal screw was an excellent fit for the Gem Jr. I drilled a pilot hole in the end of the dowel and screwed the screw in. I cut it off leaving about a quarter of an inch. It fit just right.

Then, I went to work shaping the handle.

On the next day, I made two more handles using my lathe. In the picture the one on the left is the one from above. The other two were made on the lathe.

I contacted @twhite to see if he could make me some ferrules for the handles. He was gracious and agreed. He made 15 for me. I am going to paint the first handle black and do something else with the others. I will also be using some different woods when I make other handles. Thanks, @twhite, for your awesome work.

Maybe someone out there would like to get in on a wooden handle for your lather catcher.

I have just been using the same razor. It is very mild to me and, although I like it, the shaves I want are not coming.

A thought I had was that the handle is to short but finding a longer handle that will fit is really tough.

I reckon what I'm saying is that I sure would like to get one of those handles if possible.

Jim, that's excellent work. I have a Gem junior lather catcher, but it has the metal handle. I'm interested.

Jim's going to have to stop making brushes and start making replacement handles. I got two from him for a Schick Type G. They turned out great.

That is possible, poppi. Just tell me the length you want.
    Another possibility. Any preferences?
I hope I can keep track of you guys. I will make whatever it takes.

It turns out that these threads also match the Ever-Ready 1914 razor. So, if you have one of those, BING!

I'm thinking that a replica with as close to the dimensions of the original handle would work. It looks like you've just about did that already.

I only have the picture to go by, but it does look pretty close. Thanks.

I can loan you a short wood handle to use as a guide. I have one on a 1910 Gem Junior Bar.

It's kind of hard seeing all the razor molesting going on with the 14's and 12's though.
