I just bought a Gillette Refurbished RePlated FatBoy 1960! lo0ks like new isn't the fatboy a mild razor? that's why I bought it is it?
My youngest son (soon 22) uses his on 1, but he like a nice mild razor. Thing to realize the blade also effects the shave as well Derby Premiums are nice mild blades.
Setting 1 - 9 give different blade exposure. You can also tailor your experience by choosing different blades. I started using my 1959 (E-4) at a low setting with smooth blades like Personna Reds - grocery store generic Israeli type. As I gained skill and improved my technique I've upped the setting and sampled many blades. I now get error free 3 pass shaves on setting number nine with a Feather Hi-Stainless blade.
I am using derby as my DD I will use it on setting 1 I like a mild shave don't care if it takes a while to get the job done
I've heard or Richards Razors. I can't remember where, but they look great. I have sensitive skin and I remember when I first started DE shaving, I thought for sure I was going to peal my face off ... never happened. Maybe a nick here or there till I got a real good technique, but now I shave with anything.
you guys cant see my personal information can you? when I posted the link did it have my personal info on it
ok I{'m sorry little paranoid have had my card number stolen before not saying you are a thief or any thing bad forgive me just nervous
No worries Funny I was looking up Richards Razors and realized he advertises he does his razors out of Auburn, NY. Well I use to live in that area for about 15 years. Just thought it was interesting.
It shouldn't take too long for you brush to arrive. I now reside in Charleston, SC and hope to return to Buffalo, NY area soon.
Good choice on the Fatboy. Mine arrived yesterday. Picked her up off eBay for $50 not replated but still in excellent shape. I find setting 1 was way too mild for me, however I started there on advice. So I'll share with you what was shared with me. Start at one and try it. If it's too mild click her up a notch and see what that does for ya. Adjustables are awesome for that.
The beauty of adjustables is that they'll work for most any beard and face. I start out with my fatboy set on 3 and worked up from there. Nowadays, i use my fatboy set on 7.
