Personally, I would have waited to try the first before buying even one more. Shaving is very much YMMV and despite many liking Fatboy, it is not a sure thing you like it also. Now you will have 4 identically shaving razors, which might be good or bad depending on how you like it.
I'm among the minority who don't care for the Fatboy. I had one for years, and while I like the looks of them, the head geometry didn't work for me. I think the Slim is a much better engineered razor, but I prefer non-adjustable razors...
I say enjoy your Fatboy collection. However, you might consider the myriad of other vintage Gillettes that will "diversify" your portfolio.
Or even go beyond the world of Gillette. There's a lot out there. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
As you have seen, there are many answers to this question. It is adjustable, so you should experiment with it. I change my settings based on the sharpness of the blade I am using. My best advice is to start on 5 and see if you need to go up or down. My personal preference is a 7 with a Gillette silver blue blade.
I love my Fatboy. Its a G1. I found setting #5 was the best for me and most of the blades I use. Mine is not refurbished but is in excellent shape. You can still get them in this condition for about $80.
I recently sold my last Fat Boy — birth year model (a relic!). Never used it so no reason to really hang on to it.
Why not? Who are we to question another person's desires? I say: "Go for it!" Here's my 1958 Adjustable. (D3, unrestored)
