Just came across this offering on eBay and wondering if anyone can provide additional info on this Tech. Never seen one like this and am thinking this might be a one-off.

    Thanks!

May be someone has the legendary red Tech answer but for me it's a Ballend Tech with a bad paint job. Kind of when you were young and thought that spray painting a chrome bumper with silver spray paint was a good idea

Agreed. It's just a spray painted Tech. And not even a good paint job on the head.

The ebay seller had good reviews, decent prices, and quite a few sales. Ask them questions: Is it spray paint, cerakote?

Tom @twhite gave a razor the baked on finish. I think Jim @Jayaruh is the new owner. From what I've heard it's a long lasting, smooth way to cover lost plating. Looking at the sellers photos for this razor either the underlying brass is pitted, or the coating was applied over an improperly prepared surface causing fish eye.

I am a Gillette tech collector, and... unfortunately...I have to agree with the others who have posted. It is a 1946-50 ball end tech with a poor paint job.

If you are drawn towards interesting techs, try out Delta echo razor works.

Thanks for the feedback. Just caught my eye as an oddball Tech.

    Looks like a paint job.

I considered doing a redskins paint job on a razor I have and was giving to a hard core football fan I know. If the razor has bad plate loss there is really no harm.

That is correct. I am the lucky new owner. It is an Old Type. He replaced the cracked barrel with carbon fiber.

Agree, the Delta Echo works are dedicated time consuming restorations with quality results. This Tech is just a lazy approach.

Either way, paint or ceracote, it was applied too close or too much pressure on an air brush or spray can.
