Hi! My name is Chris. The shavette is my favorite way to shave. Search my SOTD photos, I am actually more or less a daily user. I feel like people struggle more than they should with this tool, and that with some practice and patience...a shavette can deliver smooth and comfy SR like results. Wanna learn how? Let's talk about it.
I like my Feather AC. I find that it gives me smooth, comfortable and very close shaves. I cut myself more with some DEs than I do with my Feather.
If Man Parfum is allowed after the shave, I'm in. No Man Bun though. Just Crocks and Manpris on special occasions. Shavette shave theme song:
Bought a shavette about a month ago off amazon thinking it was basically the same thing as a SR..have never tried a SR but am looking into an AP Donovan in hopes it will be...a little more forgiving than the shavette...am getting beautiful BBS results on face and under jaw going WTG and AGT with slight redness and minor nicks by the stache, but when it comes to the lower neck..(E-W growth on right side, W-E on left) I just cant for the life of me figure that out!
February 7 Parker SRX shavette Gillette Silver Blue (2) Simpson Chubby 2 Super Castle Forbes Lavender shaving cream Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Aramis EDT I'm having some fun this month with the Parker SRX.
I must be getting feeble minded in my old age, but I’m actually considering the ahem “shavette” So master samurai, what’s your noble opinion on the weapon below?? Parker PTW.
Perhaps. I do like the blade profile somewhat better than the de blade. A little more akin to a straight, I would say.
Been trying a few different things, will have another go at it in a couple days when bumps are all gone! Dont think I have been stretching the skin as well as I could be, also have to work on a few different styles holding the razor..eh hopefully within the next couple weeks il get it down! Just curious though if my assessment on a SR being more forgiving than a shavette stands true? The one i'm looking at is a 7/8 round point, 1/2 hallow..
Hi and welcome! It's true, SR has a softer feel and is more forgiving. Jump back in, we can get you up to speed!
Skin stretching is critical in traditional SR shaving. It's an order of magnitude more important with a shavette. Two spine width angle, just barely wipe the lather off. You'll be fine.
