You have to admit that it's a pretty good idea for a a quick shave with no water or electricity.

 

Eco-friendly? No batteries?
Things that are eco-friendly seem to be a trend now.

 

Let's see... it's a Soviet version of a rotary shaver powered by a wind-up motor. So, we've got the possibility of an aggressive razor with poor tolerances driven by an underpowered motor. So, it could either eat your face off or die at the first hint of tough whiskers.

 

I've seen those advertised and always been a bit curious. It is Soviet after all. I've never ordered one because my assumption is it would be painful and inefficient. Pretty much the definition of most things made by Soviet engineering. If it did actually work (a long shot at best) it could be handy for camping or other times when you wanted a quick shave. While I'm usually all in on trying new things, especially sketchy Russian stuff, my skepticism has kept me from plopping the bucks down to buy something that will most likely end up in a drawer, to be discovered at my death.

 

It reminds me of those little battery driven machines for removing fuzz from wool sweaters!

 

Ok now you've done it. Suddenly I'm more interested in buying the Soviet razor, then one of these things, and seeing which one shaves better.

 

I suspect the Russian one is better.

And of course it's probably difficult to source AA batteries inside the Gulag.

 

If these were developed for military use they might surprise you in a verry good way.
