A few razor pics, by way of introduction...

I pop into TSD on and off but confess to find it hard to keep abreast of three shaving forums (B&B, here and an Aussie one, Paste & Cut).

I decided that today was the day for a New Year's resolution - I would try to be more active in all of them. So by way of introduction I thought I would post some pics - we all like pics I know. This was,I confess also a response to requests from a few people in different places for updated shots of my collection.

I threw a painting drop sheet over the pool table in the garage with the ping-pong table as the backdrop. Opened the garage door for some light and it was time to take pics of most of the collection (nobody seems to want to see my Techs - they occupy another shelf). So with some apologies for the mediocre quality of the pics as basically I was just too lazy to arrange some proper lighting (it is summer holidays here after all) here they are in the order that they sit on the shelves in my wall unit where I store them.

From the top, shelf 1 (more pics here):

    Mainly British TTOs

    Shelf 2 (more pics here):

    Mainly US items, TTOs especially.

    Shelf 3 (more pics here);

Older Gillettes, including Double and Single Rings

    Shelf 4 (more pics here):

Traveller sets and pocket edition sets

Finally, the wall cabinet. This is where it all started. A place to put my couple of uncased razors, that were never going to be a collection but just a few to use. More pics here.

I hope that this helps to sate the appetite for New Year photos and provides an adequate introduction!

Super nice collection and glad to hear you'll be trying to participate more here at TSD. I've enjoyed your posts at B&B and think we'd all benefit from your sharing, knowledge and camaraderie. We're more laid back here and enjoy just socializing and hanging out with folks as much as we do talking about shaving so it's not always about razors and soaps but we do like to see razor porn just as much as the next razorphile. :)

Thanks all for the welcome. I'm probably past the casual user and more the OCD collector :signs136: but do enjoy just hanging out too.

I've dutifully introduced myself a little in the Newbie forum here.

It's razor porn like this that makes me think twice about my recent decision to get out of the collecting side... must fight the urge, must sell it all! :happy097:

Nearly two years - two years up in March.

    Favourite Shave - tough question.

All-time favourite razor - probably #16 although a tough call. Currently using my Eclipse Red Ring most :ashamed001:

Brush: I've only had two in regular rotation for the last year, Semogue 1305 (best for hard soaps) and Chubby 1 (best for the rest). Scored a Milk Churn for Christmas that may just edge the Chubby off its perch....

Cream/Soap: Depends on the season! Currently defaults are:

    Summer: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus
    Autumn: Cella/P.160
    Winter: Tabac (of course)
    Spring: Speick

Being Summer here at the moment my current favourite shave is a mid-morning shave after a sleep-in. Cold water, Proraso, Eclipse with a Feather - perfect, refreshing and smooth!!!!!

Long answer to a simple question!

Yeah Man.....Nice to welcome you aboard....There is a very warm vibe here and some really great folks who love to share....Quite a generous lot to be sure....Make yourself at home....:)

And thanks for the Razor Porn....That kind of thing will never go under-appreciated around here, whether a Harem worthy of a Sultan like yours or a single sultry heart-breaker of a razor vixen trying to lure us into her shave-cave....Razor porn is always appreciated....;)

I am thankful for your resolution to be more active as those are some great shots of your razor collection. What % of those razors would you say get regular use?

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

I've tried to ensure that I tried every razor I get (except NOS or otherwise precious ones that I don't want to damage). So I've shaved with most types from the Double Rings forward. I love the feel of the #16 which I think is the best of the solid guard bar razors, the #15 probably my favourite OC - boringly predictable I know.

Over the past six months or so most of my new acquisitions have been upgrades so I've been selling a bit of gear and haven't wanted to confuse things by having stuff I want to keep in my cleaning up pile so I've not had a big rotation. I'm awaiting some stuff brought pre-Christmas that should almost finalise acquisitions and I can focus more on using them and enjoying the collection. So I expect to have a wider range in 'the rotation'.

I'll post some reviews when I start playing for what they are worth!
