I will have to do four as well. 3 vintage and 1 current razor. 1. Gillette Slim 1962-1966 2. Gillette Senator/Sheraton Series (plating is the only difference) 1938-1939 3. Tie: Gillette OC 1904-1910 and EJ89DbL 2011 I will give two honorable mentions. Star Razor late 1950s- early 1960s Schick Krona 1960s
Barbasol DE Gillette Old Type BRW Improved handle Gem OCMM I know one is an SE, but these are the only 3 razors I use on a regular basis. I also have an R41, but I don't like it as much as these three.
I only own five razors but I like the EJ89 lined and the Gillette ball end Tech about equally. The Tech is even milder than the EJ which, for me, is a good thing. Also have an Aristocrat and Super Speed which I like almost as well.
Dang, that Firebar Fred is a pretty razor! My favorite safety razors are the only three I have ever used: the Merkur 34C, Gillette "slim" adjustable and Edwin Jagger DE89L. All of them have cartridge and electric shaving beat by a country mile.
My top three? hmmmmm... In no particular order they are; 1. 39C Sledghammer 2. Futur 3 Slim adjustable
It's a moving target... In no particular order.. iKon OC Deluxe long handle Merkur 20c long handle Super Adjustable Long handle or FatBoy But ask me again in a few weeks when the rotation has changed....
My current favourites are: Merkur 11C open comb Gillette Red Tip Super Speed Mühle R- / EJ DE- 89 series
I'm a newbie. Have two DE shaves under my belt with a Merkur Progress. Couldn't be happier. I split my shaving between SR & DE. Been using an SR for two months and wanted a DE for clean ups, but I love the DE.
After many trials and testing many razors (23 so far), I can say that my favourite one is the Gillette Red Tip, closely followed by the Gillette Flare Tip Rocket and the Merkur 11C open comb. I had a lot of other good razors which I really liked, especially the Mühle / EJ 89-series but the 3 mentioned above are my definite favourites!
1959 Gillette Fatboy Gem "G-bar" Heavy Flat Top (I have 2 of them, so yes, it is a DE!) Lord L6 But now I just have to have a Darwin Deluxe!
