Did you know that moose can run up to 35 miles per hour for up to 15 miles without stopping to rest. They can also swim up to 6 miles per hour for up to 10 miles and dive up to 18' deep in water. The moral of the story is, unless you are a triathlete, don't try to outrun, outswim or outdive a moose!
Hmmm..I'm thinking this could be a brand new event for the Olympics. They could call it the Moosathon...
ps.... Penguins can swim (sustained speed) up to 5 mph with bursts up to 30 mph when evading predators. And they are the most hydrodynamic of all marine creatures.
I will confirm everything about moose being massive and powerful from the two years spent living in Northern Maine. I was even nearly run-over once by a pair in a mating ritual (basically if the male can chase the female until she's too tired to run anymore he's worthy).
