If you had to choose a last meal or go to meal what would it be? Why? I know with this group im likely to see some outstanding dishes, but for me it would be something simple. Eggs, bacon, home made tortillas and black coffee....that is the food/smell i most closely associate to my childhood and parents and grandparents home....nothing like it on a cold early morning!
Appetizer: A slow, meandering meal of Nyotaimori on Kate Upton Main: Mustard coated, roasted Schweinehaxe with potato dumplings and various German brews on the side Dessert: Some nice ice cream and a large, steaming cup of Blue Bottle coffee. ...and if I can't have any of that then a couple of In-n-Out burgers, double-double, animal style with a bucket of cold Pacificos would work as well.
The BBQ Shrimp at Dani Rae's with an extra bread. Paired with copious amounts of Rogue Dead Guy Ale. It's my last meal, might as well be buzzed.
Pulled pork, Brunswick stew, coleslaw, french fries, baked beans, garlic bread, sweet tea and banana pudding for dessert.
This is too difficult. Too many deliciousnesses to choose from. Too many things you can wake me up for. Anytime. Meats, veal, poultry, fish, vegetables, salads, rice/potatoes/pasta/coucous/bread. European, Asian, African, (North-, Middle and South) American cuisines. I mean, I love Haggis as much as chicken madras, Peking duck, paella, sushi, pizza, large T-bone steak, mussels, smörgåsbord, crêpes, scones, a slice of home baked full wheat bread with a nice slice of Belgian cheese and many more things. Perhaps not all at once. Only for dessert I can come up with two favourites: chocosledder (chocolate mousse as made by SWMBO) or dark chocolate fountain with fruit (strawberries, pineapple, pear, banana - of course! - and kiwi). Darn. Now I'm hungry. Thank you.
I like these kinds of questions. Let's say last meal on death row. No question. Sweet tea. Fried catfish in cornmeal. Sweet Cornbread. Black eye peas or purple hull peas. Greens. Collard or mustard. For desert. More sweet cornbread.
This looks significantly like the 'last meal' some of the inmates at the Angola State penitentiary (Louisiana) were served....
My last meal was my "post-workout" meal of 2 "veggie burgers" and some coleslaw on the side. A cup of applesauce(low sugar)for dessert.
homemade linguine in a fresh Alfredo sauce with chopped spiny lobster tail. A side of boiled chilled rock shrimp. Key lime cheese cake and southern style sweet tea. It would have to be my last meal because as much as I love the taste shellfish makes me swell and itch.
Cocktails: Vodka Martini Apps: Oysters on the half shell Steak Tartar Salad: Caesar, made at the table Soup: Shecrab Entree: A: Wood Fired Ribeye with twice baked potato and grilled asparagus B: Smoked Duck with roasted red potatoes and mushrooms C: Fresh wild caught Salmon almond and ginger crusted with Summer Garden Risotto D: Pan seared Quail breast with Shallot, bacon and parsley Alfredo E: My friend Dave's Pulled Pork and BBQ Ribs F: Anchovy, Roatsed garlic and Pineapple white Pizza (I really couldn't decide between these, and of course I could go on for quite a while here, suffice to say I hope that my best friends are with me and someone at the table has one of these choices. I'd let My friends Eric and Jason select wines, of course) Dessert: Fresh summer peach slices After dinner: Coffee and Drambuie After coffee: Scotch and a pipe This would be 5+ hour dinner. Preferably somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with a good western exposure and a stream nearby in the Autumn. At some point in the early AM, we would all decide we needed to make omelets...
