Underdog? I think most European drugstore soaps are sold as shave sticks? Edit: Speick, Palmolive, Wilkinson Sword, Tabac, La Toja, Derby, ARKO ... to name a few. I like them, especially when they have a handy travel container.
I really like both the Speick stick and cream. I get great lather and excellent shaves........................
I been using Lea for the last two days and have decided I am not a fan. I ran to the local Mercantile today and picked these up. I'll post my opinion of the Ogallala in the morning.
I am so glad I ran out and bought the Ogallala stick. Not only did it lather well, it had a wonderful scent. I am a big fan of Ogallala Bay Rum so this one will stay in my Dopp kit. The soap lathered up very similar to a Palmolive or Arko stick. One application and I built up enough lather for a very nice two pass shave and still had enough in the brush that I could have had another application. Nice soap!
Received a Tabac stick with container on Monday and have used it 2 times now with my Razorock Plissoft in prep for my upcoming business trip to Hawaii. I now know that that combo will serve me well. Tabac is now at the top of my list for soaps and the stick lathers exactly like the puck. I'm very impressed, and set for travel. BTW, if you order from Amazon using Lucky Girl as the seller, you'll get it in a week (Florida anyway) for $7.99 all in. Best price I could find. Edit: Lucky Girl ships from the UK.
Agreed it's an awesome shave stick and I also recommend Lucky Girl. Also got mine in a week from UK, that's fast!
Just used Arko for the first time in a long time. It was a really great shave. It is so quick and easy to get a lather with a shave stick, I should probably use them more often. Sent from my LG-V480 using Tapatalk
I love shave sticks! Lately they are all I want to use. Not only are they convenient but provide amazing lather too.
Arko rules... That being said any shave soap can be used in the same manner puck or stick directly to the face. The irony is that I have grated up a couple of sticks of Arko to make a mentholated puck....
I like the concept of shave sticks. I've just been using creams/foams, but a stick/wet brush combo may be the way to go for me should I go the "old=school"(avec brush)way.

Rub the puck on your face. Pucks are just awkwardly shaped shave sticks. I am not kidding. Rub it on your face.
