Next pipe, Dr Grabow Supreme judging by the stinger it's old I want to say early 50s. No oxidation and only a few very light bite marks. Also needs broken in from a slight over reaming. My phone is refusing to load in any other pictures of this pipe. I know the older Grabow stinger is what everyone wanted to see anyway.
My eyeballs are tired from scanning photos of Kaywoodies. I don't find an actual match to this one I just purchased. I now know it's a 3 hole stinger, rather than a 4. And I've seen pictures of stingers hacksawed off -The Horrors! The bowl is 1-3/4" deep by 3/4" tapering towards the bottom. It doesn't truly qualify as a "Magnum" with less that a 3" deep chamber. I am beginning to wonder if someone counterfeited Kaywoodie in Brylon. I may take a scraping with my pocket knife.
It's not brylon, brylon doesn't form cake. You could just scrape any residue off the inside of the bowl with a brylon pipe.
I have to correct myself again (I seem to be doing that a lot lately). It looks like all the new Yelo-Bole brylon pipes have 6mm filters. I guess stingers have pretty much disappeared from new production pipes.
I did see that one. Very different finish. Slightly different shape. Same stem. Mine clearly has the stamp; "KAYWOODIE" "MAGNUM" "IMPORTED BRIAR" Guess I'll be happy knowing its a '47 to'89. Try it out tomorrow.
The new Kaywoodie's at my local pipe shop have stingers. I bought a small bulldog for $15 just to try it out. I don't like the tight draw of it, snipped the stinger off and now it's an okay little pipe. I like a wide open draw, though. I don't use a filter in my cobs, and leave the filter and adapter out of my Savinelli...
I thought I was wrong, but I appear to have been mistaken The SM Frank site indicates the new Yelo-Boles have the push bit with scoop. http://www.smfrankcoinc.com/home/?page_id=119 The descriptions at P&C indicate 6 mm filters I tend to believe the mistake is at P&C.
According to the manufacturer the only Kaywoodie model with the drinkless attachment in current production is the Campus. Anyone that likes the stinger should probably look for pre-2016 pipes or go with the Campus.
This is my first army mount pipe, I really like the utility of the army mount. I've avoided them since most have silver mounts and silver tarnishes pretty quickly here.
2nd pipe this am. First was MM Legend with Chantom Manor/ Old Joe Krantz mix. Now enjoying my new Johs, only 2nd bowl in this pipe, great smoker.
A couple of coins of Escudo in a Falcon. I'm off work this week and the weather should be nice after a front and line of thunderstorms pass thru this afternoon.
Trying a new-to-me OTC today. Pouch note is pleasant. Fumble fingers post via Kyocera / Tapatalk (subject to later editing)
