Wow. You are definitely the Stirling fan. Love that they do not skimp on their samples.

I do like Stirling, but I also have a lot of soaps from a lot of makers. Because I live in Japan I often make big orders to make the most of shipping costs. Justification for large orders:happy036:

Took this off @Drygulch's hands. Started cleaning it up as soon as it was unpacked. Little 2.25" Genco. After I'm done cleaning it up, I'm gonna have to send it back out for honing I think.

    Thanks Adam

Ever bought something online and completely mis-read/misunderstood how big/heavy something would be?
Well, I sure did. Not shaving related but more of a 'be sure to read specs twice before you buy' :)

I like old Lowell Sigmund designs from the '70s and '80s and when this small (see more about that later) all brass van from about 1975 came up for sale at at heavily discounted price - down to $10 w/ free shipping I jumped on it thinking it would be a really neat pocket fidget toy to carry around and whatnot. After all, it's just 2cm long. Perfect.

It arrived today and, well, eh...
I love the look of it. Really nice, all smooth and the wheel spin, etc...

But...I completely misread the ad. It's not 2CM...It's actually closer to 3 INCHES - and it weighs a TON (or at least 2-3 lbs).

    So not quite pocket/carry material.

Moral of the story - whatever you buy "read twice, buy once"

Just picked up a tube of Crabtree & Evelyn Indian Sandalwood Shave Cream and 3 bars of triple milled soap for 50% at the store tonight.
I like the hard shaving soap and the scent so I figured I'd try the cream.

Got my stone holder. Haven't done a razor on it yet, but it made sharpening a kitchen knife much easier.

Also got a fountain pen portfolio. Slots worked perfect, and it almost holds my entire collection.

Every once in a while. I have an ad from April 1936 for the Gillette Aristocrat One-Piece Razor, the silver plated precursor to the #15.

Wasn't it in Spinal Tap where they ordered a 18 foot prop and it came 18 inches and they hired little people to dance around it?
