I ordered a 20 pack of Gillette blue blades for my Gillette Slim Adjustable, and Super Speed Flare Tip razors. Bought them from amazon. My question is, are the blades smooth or sharp?
Are these the Silver Blue or the 7'oclock blue? The Gillette Silver Blue are both smooth and sharp. Have not used the 7 o'clock blue but the 7 o'clock green are the equal of the Silver Blue. YMMV, though.
Yeah, I got that. When I read the title, my first thought was of vintage Blue Blades. I have some, but I have never used them.
It's Gillette Blue blades ''Russian made'' by 7'oclock Here's what I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009XHQGY0/?tag=thshde-20
Gotcha. You're gonna love these blades. I use 'em in my NEW SC(as a matter of fact I'm using 'em this week). I shave six days a week(Su-Fri) and usually 2.5 pass shaves. They hold up great. Happy shaves!
Yes they are. I start off my shave week with a traditional 3 pass shave on a two day growth. More often than not I wind up with a BBS. The rest of the week is stubble, which the NEW/GSB combo mows down no problem with 2.5 passes(the half pass is on my neck). Enjoy.
Those blades work great for me. They're smooth and comfortable, plus I get more shaves out of them than other brands.
Yes, Gillette Silver Blue blades are smooth and sharp (YMMV). I have gotten as many as 6-8 two-pass+ shaves with a GSB and used one for 6 days last week. The original Gillette Blue Blades, which were discontinued around 1970, were carbon steel, actually blue in color and very sharp, but they could rust overnight. Gillette introduced the silicone-coated Super Blue blade in 1958. This was also a sharp carbon-steel blade, and it too was literally blue. It was also discontinued around 1970. These were relatively inexpensive blades, and the Stainless and Super Stainless Steel blades were the premium Gillette blades in those days. Gillette's first platinum blade was introduced in 1970. As always, Gillette, the market leader, frequently introduced new razors and blades and phased out what was then on the market.
They are one of my favourites. Sharp, smooth and comfortable, not far off Feathers but with better longevity and not as harsh.
