I just recently read an article mentioning that barbers and other " pros" wipe the lather off rather than rinsing. The premise is that wiping leaves residual soap on the edge providing lubrication. To me it seems that wiping off the lather for barbers is more of a matter ov convience, rather than heading to the water tap. I typically rinse the blade off and wipe between the passes on a linen towel. I have also wiped on occasion on a damp sponge. I do this after honing as it's a good indicator for me to see how much hair is being removed on the firs pass. What's you opinion(s)? Are you a wiper or rinser, and why?
I give it a quick, but careful dip in the sink full of water. Then I wipe in gently on the to well I have folded on the counter.
Rinse. I'm just careful not to smack the edge while rinsing in the sink. The only drawback is that I have to oil the blade and hinge after the shave. No biggie, I have a lot of oil.
I wipe it off on the washcloth that i used til wash my face. Once I'm done washing, i wring it out, fold it, and put it next to the sink basin. I too, like to see the stubble in the used lather. (Nasty little kink, I know, but i do love seeing my removed facial hairs, sorta kin to looking at the gunk on the q-tip, and who doesn't look at a bugger if one has to pick his nose) HA HA
Neither, I swish. I fill the sink about half way and swish the blade to get the lather off. DEs and SEs same thing. Been several years since I've oiled my straights. I dry them off very well, keep 'em in a roll to stay dry. I have yet to see any rust.
I Do Both..Some Soaps Stick to the Blade like Glue..When I Wipe on a Towel I Don't Touch the Edge..Just the Lather from the Blade.. Billy..
Well that looks like a rinser to me! Hope it has a heater for the water, because a cold shot of water on the bum doesn't seem to appealing
