Very good shave. I will need a few shaves to get a better feel for this blade. If anyone has any information on this blade please post it. I can't find anything about it.

I'm really loving that Mariana Cottage soap...'41 Ranger Tech with a Voskhod blade, Strong Set pure bristle brush, and Nivea Sensitive balm.

Well, that was rather disappointing. After three good nights with the new Derby Premium, with 6 being the best setting followed by 9 then 3, I was all set to have a good shave, if not great, with the Derby Extra. Yes, I know, this blade gets horrible reviews by a majority but honestly, with the right razor, isn't all that terrible. Well, I can tell you, the Slim on 3 is not the right razor. Or else the blade just sucks more than I remembered.

Also a bit disappointing was the lather process. Oh I got plenty of lather worked up for the first pass and yes, the silvertip did give me that luxurious feel I like from it, but when I finished the second pass I was running low on lather and the brush was running dry as well. Quite a different performance than the two synthetics I've been rotating. I'm not about to give up on natural brushes, but I'm leaning little by little toward the synths as an everyday brush.

Two passes and some touch up and I finished with an ok DFS. Nothing to write home about but I could go to work with it in the morning if I was going to work. Since I'm off tomorrow it's even less critical, of course.

The main complaint, though, aside from finish and lather - the feel. This blade was not smooth. Not so bad you'd stop shaving with it but definitely not the smooth feel I was expecting. Hopefully opening the gap will improve things and maybe prove out that this blade really does need some aggression on the part of the razor to help it out. Here's hoping that the Turkish twins perform better tomorrow in every way.

Sorry to cut in on your conversation, just curious if you have tried the newer Catties Bubbles harder soap. He only added a few ingredients, but man that new formula really is good stuff. As far as Tuscan Oud goes, it smells nothing like LPV at all, both are nice scents, but Tuscan Oud is very sweet smelling, where LPV is more of a spicy type of scent.
