Well, I think it would be hard to take a bad picture of this setup. It's so photogenic.

 

Today's shave was with a West German Solingen rescue razor. I have a fantastic 2 pass shave, with Baby Dolphin Butt smooth results. Zero nicks, cuts, or weepers. Excellent razor.

This "Special Edition" Fougère Bouquet utilizes Wholly Kaw's tallow base with ass milk. It's certainly an upgrade from their already outstanding base. With my hard water, this lathered up very quickly, but forget about attaining a meringue-like "Hollywood" lather. Instead, thick, dense cream was the reward for a moderate amount of water. Compared to Wholly Kaw's current tallow base, slickness was dramatically increased, and post-shave easily rivals that of Nuàvia (at a fraction of the cost).

The alteration of the base did not reshape the beautiful fragrance of Fougère Bouquet. The elegant, but lively, sweet and spicy fougère is perfectly intact, starting off with floral notes and unfolding into damp green notes and finally gentle musk and oakmoss as the shave progresses. The splash perfectly matches the soap's fragrance with a little more of a floral push, but remaining steadfast as a spicy fougère.

If you missed out on this special edition, there's no reason to skip on the stock Fougère Bouquet sans the ass milk, as it's a spectacular performer in its own right. If you want to try this ass milk base in another fragrance, "Monoco Royale" utilizes it natively.

I haven't heard of Wholly Kaw's plans, but I would expect some of their other offerings will eventually be elevated with this base. My vote for next on the list is Cuero Oscuro, a leather lover's essential.

Today's Shave Saturday 29Mar17




I got a DFS shave out of the items that were used . I have one of the @Jayaruh Brushes that I have not used yet. We have to go out of town on business this next week so maybe when I get back I will not only use it and put it thru it's paces but I will take a picture or two of it.
While shaving today I used the Neutrogena Men® Invigorating Face.
I have been using that for several years due to my psoriasis and it controls it very well and is a lot cheaper than the perscription face soap and shampoo. ​

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bunny B-400 Boar brush. I did two passes the Gem Jr. 1911 Lather Catcher razor and CVS SE blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

I am not a straight edge guy, but I could see myself learning to use something like your Dovo.

 

Thanks. It's rather plain, for a Dovo, but it's mine. I won't lay down the big money, for a new one, and some of the older ones, like this, can be pricey to. That's why I get the fixer uppers.

There no time like the present, to try one.

Had a decent shave this afternoon. Got a surprisingly good lather from the HTGAM, much better than last time I used this soap formula. Ended up with a fairly smooth shave and finished off with some Thomas Tew aftershave. Hope everyone had a great shave!
