Today's shave was brought to you by:

    1956 Gillette Flair Tip
    Astra SP
    RazoRock Big Bruce
    Tabac
    English Leather
    Mr. Blass by Bill Blass

After the talk about flair tips, I had to bust mine out. Paired with the Astra SP it gives an amazingly mild but effective shave. Tabac hadn't been used in a while and it was as good as always. Someone had mentioned that English Leather paired well with Tabac. They were not wrong. Hit my chest with some Mr. Blass on the way out the door for some added liquid confidence. Apparently I have to make up for my makeup bag dopp kit over the weekend.

At least, according to the Gillette razor dating chart I found! The 1956 was up today. It's one of my favorites. Mild feel, aggressive results.

It's never a bad decision. With a sharp blade, it's a winner every time.

Not sure. It just smells great.

The scent pyramid for Saponificio Varesino 70th is:
Top note: Bergamont, Lemon, Tangerine, Aquatic Note(Calone)
Body note: Lavender, Moroccan Cyst, Green Jasmine, Leaves of Geranium
    Base Note: Amber notes, Vetiver

Aqua Di Gio(as defined at fragrantica.com)
    Top: Lemon, Mint
    Middle: Jasmine, Pink Pepper, Peony
Base: French Labdanum, Virginia Cedar, Sugar

I do not know the scent profile for Dunshire.

    June 26 - Stella Alpina

    Merkur 34C
    Rapira Platinum Lux (Day 4)
    30DC LE Brush
    DIY PSO
Saponificio Varesino Stella Alpina 4.2 shaving soap
    Alum/Thayers/AOS PSB

Today was Stella Alpina. Awesome soap. The scent is great. Officially, it is comprised of Top Note: Lemon, Bergamont, Basil; Middle Note: Cistus Myrtle, Eucaliptus; base note: Cypress, Amber. All I know is the scent is great and clean and fresh. Definitely a winner as far as scent goes. I really did not notice the basil. to me, it was lightly citrus with a floral note. Lather was amazingly slick. I only loaded for 10 seconds after dribbling a few drops a few minutes earlier. Lather leaped off the puck so I went to the bowl. I probably could have loaded more but the lather was super slick and perfect. Even with an oldish blade, got the BBS. The only downside was that I had shave just 17 hours earlier and the blade probably should have been replaced. My face had a good sting when the alum hit it. WH and Balm quieted it down nicely. I will look forward to the next time SA comes up in the rotation.

Not a lot of time to post focus shaves. Sorry, no pics, but have been on focus for my weekend shave and this morning:

    Saturday-
Gillette Aristocrat Jr w Astra SP(1)
    Tabac Stick
    WD HM Badger
    Thayers
Chatillon Lux Gratiot League Sq AS

    This Morning-
Gillette Aristocrat Jr w Astra (2)
    Stirling Port-au-Prince SS sample
    TGN Synthetic
    Thayers
    Stirling Glacial Balm

Day 8&9 of the Jr focus, first 2 days with an Astra. Straightforward, routine shaves. Two excellent lathers. The Astra is a top performer for me regardless of razor. Two very 'unique to me' scents. Still getting used to the Gratiot League Square, and then used the Port-Au-Prince this morning. I found this scent very different from what I am used to as well. Just went with an unscented Glacial balm afterwards, as the soap was still quite strong smelling.
    Have a great day all!

    30 DC LE Brush Update

Well, I have completed turning all the 30DC handles. The last four (the 'fantastic four') handles left are receiving coats of finish and, in the case of two of them, having knots set. They should be mailed on Thursday...
Of the finished handles, 5 (edit-4) are in transit and the rest have arrived safely. Knock on wood that they all continue to arrive in a timely fashion. We should see a pretty steady stream of arrivals over the next week or so, and then again when the fantastic four land.
In total, the 30 DC LE project constituted 23 handles. There were 3 'extras' as well, 2 through me not thinking they looked close enough (one I kept and one I traded to John). I also screwed up two chunks of wood that never made it to completion.
All in all, I'm happy with how things turned out (don't ask about the lettering...) and just wanted to thank all of you who helped organize the project.
I'm wondering what to do with my free time now. I know my wife will be happy to have the dining room sideboard and table back (they were my finishing station for the last bit). I'm thinking about turning a couple shaving bowls next, once I figure out how I want the insides to look, but don't even think about asking for an LE...:ban:
