Just when you think you have this DE shaving thing down to a science, along comes the 2011 R41.....

 

That bad ?

 

Here's Tuesday's Planned Shave:

*-they ran out of pluses at the supermarket, I should have gone to CVS. Ahh, these are OK.

 

Gillette Bostonian (Canada) Razor
Treet New Steel Blade
Modified Barbershop Boar Brush
Proraso Green Soap
Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aqua Velva Ice Blue After Shave

Third use of the Treet Silver and it seemed to perform better. Maybe the blade gets smoother after it's first use, or it was the razor because it's heavier than the others, or a combination of both. All I know is that it gave me a really smooth and comfortable BBS shave.

 

I guess it depends on your definition of "bad". Let's put it this way, I haven't needed any stitches yet.

 

Not shave related, but very important.

Tonight's shave was with a excellent shaving U.S. made razor. I had a buttery smooth 2 pass shave. Zero issues.

Razor- The J.R.Torrey Co.
Brush- B400 By Tom
Soap- MWF
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

 

Tonight's shave was less than optimal but I blame it on user error. I also propose Mutton Monday as I don't have any Menthol other than the light mentol scent in the C.O.Bigelow (may just be the eucalyptus)

Razor- Gillette FatBoy set to 3....Frist shave with this heavy beast!
Blade - Astra SP (2)
Brush- Made Rite Badger
Soap- Stirling Electric Sheep
Post - Witch Hazel

First pass WTG went great the weight of the razor made it effortless. Second pass ATG went well but I rushed as I was trying to finish before the wife made it home. I should have stopped there but chased a baby and ended up with some weepers on my neck. Overall still smooth but a little irritation.. all my fault though.

As for the electric sheep, I dunno. I was hoping the citronella would not be as strong but it's the primary scent I get. I'll probably try this one more time then offer it to my buddy. Lather and silky feel were great but I'm not a huge fan of citronella.

The VDH Luxury Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #195 synthetic brush. I did the two passes with the Gillette 195 razor and Personna Super blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I must add that it's 10:10pm and my face is FAR smoother than usual. I will keep using this razor until I have mastered it.
