I need your help guys. I have about 15 brushes and i really dont need anymore. The only thing i do want to add is a higher end badger brush. Im not planning on buying right away. I just want some ideas on what to get. Im looking to spend 200 or maybe a little more. Rooney Simpson Thater Saville row Open to other brands. Thanks for your help. Pics would help also.
I just ordered my wife a Simpson Captain in a Manchurian. She is not into wet shaving at all. A couple of week ends ago we celebrated our 40th anniversary and it dawned on me it's"life without parole" from here on in. I've always wanted to try a Simpson Manchurian and my wife has a pretty good sense of humor (not quite as good as mine) so next week I'll keep my eyes open and see if she get something from across the Atlantic. I like Shavemac knots and have had all the hair types and knot styles. It gives you alot options to create what you're looking for.
A good all around brush. Good for face lathering and bowl. Not really floppy. Not scritchy. Dense knot.
In my experience Thäter, Simpson, Rooney all make excellent brushes. It's all about what knot type and handle style you like. I have not tried Saville Row. As mentioned Shavemac is excellent too.
I'll toss another in the mix - Declaration Brushworks (same guy does L&L Grooming). Hand tied fan badger knots out of Georgia. You can send in an empty handle, a brush with a knot to be replaced or buy one of his handles/knots. People with way more brushes than I say the knots are among the best there is. I do love my 27mm and I have a handle there now to be knotted. He's been out of stock for a while while sampling hair and has chosen a new batch which he calls B3 (batch 3) and will be tying more knots after he finishes a group buy for another forum. https://www.declarationbrushworks.com
Congrats, nice brush. BTW, the Simpsons Captain in Manchurian arrived yesterday. I'll have my first shave with it tomorrow morning.
