Didn't have time to shower the other day but still needed to shave so I tried something new. I wetted down my badger brush with some HOT water and then just rubbed the hot water on my face. I kept dipping the brush in hot water and then putting it on my face so I got my beard good and wet. Then I lathered up and shaved away. This worked pretty dog gone well I must say. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried this.
Same here, I usually get excellent shaves with a hot towel.....but the brush-method is quite interesting. Thanks for the tip :happy088
Did it. Felt a little funny but it is a good way to really soak your face in water and get a little scrub on.
As I shower in the evening and shave in the morning I have a different technique: When I soak my brush and warm my scuttle I also rinse my face for a good minute with some hot water and apply Trumpers Skinfood afterwards. Works pretty well too
I know there are shower advocates still here at TSD. I don't shower before my shave, I'm a hot towel guy What about you? And you may now insert the obligatory "Hey, you brought back a reallllly old post" comments.
If I'm not showering directly before my shave, I still wash my face with very hot water and some type of cleanser. Then rinse with very hot water as well. Then usually I will use a pre-shave to provide a nice basecoat for the lather. Since I primarily face lather, the lathering process also contributes to the beard prep. This seems to get the beard ready just fine. Once in a while, if I am bowl lathering, I take the time to wet a face cloth with hot water and put it on my face, but usually I am too impatient to do that.
Nah, I'll just wait for the inevitable "Hey, Have You Seen Apple's New iPhone?" thread from 2007 to be resurrected....
