Hi, Just bought a Gillette aristocrat from a man on ebay. Nice guy. Anyway, I've probably paid over the odds for it but I've been wanting one so whatever. It's not for display, it's for careful use and because it's pretty. So, not that it really matters, I think it's in the wrong box which is giving me problems with identification. I think it could be a #15 but it was labelled by the seller as a #21 (which I believe is the box it's in). Can anyone help? Pics attached And in typical English Gillette fashion the number on the base plate reads 430030 which doesn't match anything on Mr razor
Looks like a #15 to me too but I can't tell if there is writing on the upper and lower bands. This pic is a silver plated #15. Looks like yours. The #15 also came Rhodium. Note no writing on bands.
Yeah I don't think it has writing so that would be a #15? What are the ones like this but with writing called?
Based on "MR Razor" and a few other sites looks like a #14 is identical except the writing on the bands.
Very nice Gillette. I've a few TTO-DE's & a number of 3pc-OC's, but the selection of TTO-OC-DE's is small in either vintage or modern. Let us know how it performs!
1948 British Aristocrat #21 has the same number, but solid bar. Case also looks similar...................
I certainly will. You will see many SOS updates featuring this razor haha. Can't afford not to use it...
