Always happy to see someone use Bigelow...it's a family name(well, sort of....a distant relative was named Bigelow, but that was her first name. My mom said everyone called her "Biggy").

    SHAVE UPDATE: 1/13/2018 to 1/15/2018
    SOTD 1/13/2018

RAZOR: BOSS 3 Piece Extra Heavyweight - All Metal Textured Safety Razor Long Handle (4 inch handle, 4.8 ounces)
BLADE: Dorco Platinum ST-300 - 11th use of this blade - BUT I hand stropped it on the 10th use.
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory soap
PRE SHAVE: used bloom water on face
BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set - 11th use from new
SOAP: Erasmic Shave Stick - this is my 7th go around with this soap - disappointed
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse followed by application of CRYSTAL deodorant (deodorant stone - potassium alum)
AFTER SHAVE: Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum
BALM: Maison the Collection - Moroccan Mint Tea Lotion
    Boss_Erasmic_VDH_VIBR.jpg
The Boss is definitely one of my top 3 DE razors. I really like my DE's in the 3 piece configuration, on the weighty side.
Good shave - mostly BBS but the Erasmic lather is still a problem for me. 2+ pass but stopped short on touchups.
The VDH Boar helped, but still lather is weak and not giving me the cushion and slickness I want. Just not feelin' it.
I had just a tinge of burning on my skin. The Crystal stone showed a close shave with no razor burn - must be the Erasmic.
The Moroccan Mint Tea Lotion soothed my ruddy complexion. Not ready to give up on this soap - yet.

    SOTD 1/14/2018
RAZOR: Sabi 3-piece - chrome (3 inch handle, medium weight)- a mildly aggressive razor for me.
BLADE: PACE DE (5 pack) - made in Vietnam - this is likely the 10th shave with this blade.
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory Soap, followed by hot water rinse
PRE SHAVE: used bloom water on face
BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set - 12th use from new
    MUG: repurposed coffee/soup Mug
SOAP: Hybrid Soap Col.Conk LIME & Williams Mug Shave soap
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse
    AFTER SHAVE: Aqua Velva Musk
    BALM: None
    Sabi_VDH_AV_Musk.jpg
I got a great BBS shave in 2+passes. I usually don't consider this razor in the top 3, but then I use it and it is great.
Very smooth, clean shave. Less aggressive than my TOP TEAR, but also more forgiving. Mildly aggressive yet subdued.
Excellent lather, great aftershave, wonderful scent. Very efficient and goodness all around. How cool is that?

    SOTD 1/15/2018
RAZOR: RAZOR: Matador Toro Mastiff Largo - gold
BLADE: Dorco Platinum ST-300 - 13th use of this blade - I am NOT superstitious!
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory soap
PRE SHAVE: used bloom water on face
BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set - 13th use from new (SEE ABOVE!)
SHAVE CREAM: Barbasol Original- applied by hand
SOAP: Erasmic Shave Stick - this is my 8th go around with this soap - AND I molested the Barbasol
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse followed by application of CRYSTAL deodorant (deodorant stone - potassium alum)
AFTER SHAVE: Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum
BALM: Maison the Collection Vanilla Lavender Lotion
    Matador_VDH_Erasmic_Barbasol.jpg
Incredible 2-pass full-on BBS shave. I scrubbed in the Erasmic with my trusty VDH Boar brush. It needed help.
Bring on the Barbasol - love the scent of original. I really enjoyed this shave! It has been a while since I have used Barby.
This Matador is a gem. Loved the Erasmic/Barbasol combo - but you can bet it was all the Barbasol.
VIBR is very compatible with the scent of the Vanilla Lavender Lotion.

    Tabac
    JR#206 2-band Badger
    Schick H (the Hussy)
    Schick Twin
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Vegetal

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with the JR #206 2-band Badger brush. I did two passes with the Schick H Razor with a Schick Twin blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I really like the Tabac. It worked much better today with the Hussy. I did not have near the problem of rinsing her out with cold water. The Tabac is so rich and slick. Very nice soap.

    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat

Another old school relaxing shave for the middle of the month. Yep, January is halfway done. Time flies when you're having fun. Or shaving. Or talking about shaving.

Grabbed my 1959 Super Speed and threw a Sputnik in it. Sputnik. The poor man's Voskhod. Ok, so it's really just the teflon blade from St. Petersburg, but it's a good blade to have around. Not quite as smooth as the Voskhod but it does a nice job nevertheless. Two passes on a great MWF lather with the Wolf and I was DFS. Did some touch ups and the baby showed up. Very nice performance from a classic setup.

Tomorrow night will be a special night, all for @wchnu . As most of you know I am not a fan of modern Williams. That's an understatement. I don't really find it useful even as mosquito repellent. But, given Fuzzy's return and his sharing videos that seem to prove that Williams might actually lather (still think it's a video trick), I'm going to break out my puck of Williams that I bagged, tagged, and sealed in a container so it couldn't hurt anyone the last time I tried to get it to lather. I'm going to use a synthetic brush with it and use every trick in the book to get a lather. Will I have to humble myself and admit it can be done? Tune in tomorrow as.....The Williams Turns!
