April has been great for my Den! I was luck enough to win one of the Oscar11 Brush PIF's and got two tubs of the BdF Mistero for $5 each before Bullgoose cleared them all out. I used them both today.
You can see in this picture that the blade is misaligned. Lining it up is tricky. The posts are too skinny allowing too much play. The head is very similar to the EJ89, but the EJ89 just lines up with no problem. This head can be problematic.
Men Rock The Strop leather/canvas strop Bulldog Men Original after shave balm, face wash etc. (just some refilling of my stock) Palmolive Classic shave stick Looks like I can finally try out my vintage SR. And no, my AD's have not returned, not by much at least
Hi Friends, moments ago my "Alvarez Gomez Shaving Cream" arrived. It smells soooo fantastic. ...and here i got a little gift from Gifts & Care...really nice. Greetings Thorsten
Thorsten-I really like the LEA AS Balsam. I stopped using the Nivea. I needed to replenish my supply of Stirling Bath Soap. I "had" to add a couple sample pucks: Scots Pine and Coniferous. Larry, aka Rod, was kind enough to add an extra bar of the Coniferous Bath Soap.
It wasn't easy, but I believe I finally scored my holy grail of shaving brushes: Rooney Finest 3/2 NOS This one has the added bonus of a bigger knot of 25mm, and a loft of around 61mm, perfect for a bowl latherer like me. Today I am a happy man.
Today i bought an "1957 Gillette Red Flair Tip" Date Code C1 . Hope it will give me many good shaves. Pictures will follow when i received the razor that comes from Henderson (Kentucky),USA. The mail man brought me this one today: LEA Aftershave Balm for Sensitive Skin. It has a very pleasant cooling kick and feels great on the skin. The cooling kick lasts about 10-15 minutes. @Bobcat : I never used Nivea products...so i don´t have any comparisons. But i have to say that LEA is great stuff. I will definetly order it again. Take care and have a good time. Greetings Thorsten
I bought some Old Spice last week. Today, I purchased Pinaud, Aqua Velva Musk, and Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue. No one told me wet shaving was going to turn me into an old man! On Saturday, I even yelled at some kids to stop playing on my lawn.
My dear wife got me a Semogue 2000 for my birthday: I'm surprised how big it is-- that's why I included an Omega 10048 for scale. The knot is every bit as wide as the 48, nearly as long and much more dense. I also was surprised that it's been pretty good to go right out of the box. I'd heard Semogues take a long time to break in, but I've been face lathering with it all week and it's just fine. Can't imagine how much better it could be after a month or three. Also recently got a puck of Stirling Gin & Tonic, a couple of his witch hazel/aloe splashes, and he threw in a test sample of his as yet unreleased aftershave balm. All good stuff.
I have a 57 red tip and it is my favorite vintage Gillette razor ever. I think you will be well pleased with it. Nice find and I wish you decades of fantastic shaves with it.
Here's the results of my recent blade trade. I love most of the Russian blades so o was pretty excited to get this haul for my Supermax Titaniums that just didn't work for me for some reason. Also I got my beloved Tabac this week. Two shaves in and this is probably the best soap I have ever used. Wonderful.
