I've got a balsa strop with CrOx and FerOx on the way. Are the diamond pastes a substitute for a high grit stone? That is, if one uses more pastes than stones, what pastes are stand ins for (finishing?) stones?

I've never used abrasive pastes on my razors. Which I suppose is odd, since I'm a huge proponent of pasted strops for knives :signs002:. Bare linen/Kanayama second leather/Cordovan finishing strop and a 12K Naniwa with a Nakayama finisher for retouching the edge.

Felt all the way here. However, the roughed leather on the srd mod. Paddle with chrox was nice too. I tried chrox and diamond on the linen and it to me felt a bit harsher and required more stropping than the felt, but it does work. I do stay away from the sprays though, the pump just kept sticking and the distilled water or carrier caused felt to bubble up and left small bumps in it; I think those are best used on leather or linen; just me thoughts on that.
