Another root beer fan I see.....I just moved to Seattle and they have a great gourmet root beer called, "Harvey Weinhard...but I dig most Root beer and tonights glass is IBC...
Do you mean Henry Weinhard? Weinhard's used to be a 100+ year old brewery in Portland that was a major 'local' beer west of the Rockies. About 15 years or so ago hey sold out to the same major brewery in Milwaukee that makes weak swill and attaches the brand names they own to it. Henry's, PBR, Oly, Hamm's, etc. Weinhard's made some fantastic Root Beer, Cream Soda, and even an Orange Cream Soda. It was something they'd do when they couldn't make beer for some reason. I didn't realize someone was making their Root Beer still. Interesting to find out. Portland has a lot of fountains around the city, and at one time Henry made them all run with beer. Just because.
So far I believe Weinhard's Root Beer is the best, richest, smoothest, creamiest gourmet RB I've ever had the pleasure of.....
Back growing up in CA... We drank a lot of Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve. I have a lot of fond, fuzzy memories of those days. We always made a joke about our discerning tastes between batch numbers. Man we were dumb...
Hey Root Beer and Cream Soda aficionados, have any of you ever tried Virgils? I am on the fence about the Root Beer, however their Cream Soda and Orange Cream Soda are great.
At the moment relaxing on the deck with a freshly brewed cup of Hazlenut coffee and ashamed to admit a cigarette.
I'm not quite ready to ship coffee that cost me less than $4/lb... BUT...if anyone is local to SF and want to come over and pick it up in SF I will be more than happy to part with a pound for free
