Why do I always notice these revived threads?

We bought our first house about a year ago, I've always wanted my own bathroom and the 2nd room had an attached small bathroom. The only thing I didn't do was the tile work. But my mom (an interior designer for many, many years) turned me on to these glass sinks and "well" faucets. Actually pretty cheap components.

I built the shelf but like a dummy said "Ah, it'll be ok un-sealed" - boy was I wrong. Anyway, eventually Ill pull it off and sand and seal it. I was also thinking about using a bartop resin on it and sinking some vintage postcards in it.

MY son in Las Vegas has the exact same sink and faucet in his guest house ( that's where I stay)
