And we all know how that turned out. It's a sad month in Walls. Faux-hawked Dapper: it's a crying shame, really.
I've tried quite a few pomades since starting this thread, and have come to the conclusion that unless it's petroleum based it just doesn't do the job for me. Cheap old Tres Flores has given me the best results.
That's part of why I am so curious about Anchor's product as they seems to have been able to make a product that is water based... but with petroleum characteristics. Now, if that's true or not I will, according to Amazon, find out next Thursday
I'm also quite curious to hear of your results, because so far I've only wasted money on what doesn't work for me. So far what's worked best for me has been the cheapest product at $2.88, compared to the water based products that range anywhere from $7-$20.
I posted a short write up here: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/pomade-review-anchor-teddy-boy-matte.40344/
Dax Wave and Groom <$4 at the grocery store. Works great. Usually found in the same place as the African American hair products. You'll probably rue all of the $$ you spent on all the others. I'll also use Lucky Tiger Cru-Butch but it's more difficult to wash out. Water based just doesn't work on my hair...it's thick and straight and will stick straight up unless it's really long, and it's never really long.
my hair stays between 1/16 and 1/8inch all the time...but in the interest of old school goodness...I use: Jeris Vitalis Clubman Hair Tonic
I use this right now: And it works well good hold no scent to speak of. I love this: And I'll be ordering more after the JA runs out. The scent is amazing. Light hold and a little goes a long way.
I have started using H.H.Simonsen Extreme Mud after my new hair style that requires a little styling to look da bomb. Works wonders and thankfully has very little scent. http://bit.ly/1w03Auf
I have tried a few gels in the past - The wife hates the look of them all - So I just go natural and let the hair fly where it wishes. - Happy wife Happy Life
I have never had the luxury of having many product to choose from. The local store has nothing I like so I make my own from olive oil and bees wax. It is easy to scent with essential oils. I just go plain or vetiver for scent. It washes out clean and easy for a fresh start, it keeps my scalp moisturized too. And you want to talk about cheap!
