    FRIDAY
Evening Shave for the Final Day of October
My last SOTD for the next few days as I'm off to Lake Tahoe tomorrow with the old college roommates ('Guy's Getaway Weekend').
Lookin' forward to some downtime, catching up with friends I've known for 30+ years. They're curious to see me shave with "….one of those crazy cut-throat razors…"
They'll either be thoroughly impressed or think I'm nuts. I'm guessing the latter.
Warm-up shave tonight: Super-smooth results with Der German Henckel, Italian Omega & French MdC……

Have a blessed Friday & weekend, all!

    Friday Morning Shave
    Razor:
    Gillette Old Type
    Blade: Rapira (1)
    Brush: Vie-Long White Horse Hair
    Soap: Derby
    AS: Barbon

I really love these OC razors. They give me such a nice close and comfy shave in one pass that I'd like to buy more OC razors. Next time, maybe a Fatip :)

Have a great trip Kevin! I'm sure they will be impressed with the straight razor shaves. Maybe you will create some new Straight Razor shavers when they see how easy it is and how beautiful those straights can be. P.S. Take your re-scaled Freddy, that's a real beauty! :love029: Have fun! ;)

Prep: Shower, cromwell & cruthers oil and some vaseline
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
    Lather: Mike's Rose and Cedarwood
Blade: Dovo Best Quality 5/8th round point
Post shave: Osage Rub, vaseline, alum block

I've been on a menthol kick lately, but today my face was telling me it needed a break, so I had a nice warm shave with lots of Mike's lather to calm it down. Only one pass for the neck, because it was threatening to stage a protest.
I love a brush fully loaded with Mike's; buttery, soft goodness.
Then I finished off with Osage rub. Couldn't resist.:innocent

Prep: Hot shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
    Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade: Ladas
    Lather: WSP Rustic Barbershop
    Brush: hjm Badger
    Post: Alum. Dickerson WH
Aftershave: Fine American Blend. Axe Shield Sensitive
First shave with this ball end tech, fantastic! I'll call it BBS! I have a FH Tech but could never get a decent shave with it, not sure if is the head, handle. WSP soaps IMO have been the best deal in 2014 in soaps! Once again, my trusted Ladas blade came through. It's gonna rain today! :sad029:
    Go out and get it!

    Friday:

    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Micro-Touch/Dorco day 2
    Palmolive Shaving Stick :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

Truthfully and honestly this Micro-Touch DE which I bought last week is a pretty good razor but an effort is required to get a good BBS shave because it's a little too mild. I got the desired results, but I had to really work at it and I'm not too impressed with the Dorco blades. The Palmolive stick is so easy to lather and I love the scent and skincare it gives. The Hega aftershave from Sweden has a very neutral scent and gives a great post-shave feeling. There used to be a great shaving stick with the same name, but alas - it was discontinued a long time ago. ;) :D

Have a wonderful weekend, folks! :)

    Friday:
hot shower w/Grandpa's Sandalwood bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    Gillette Slim (9) 2 passes
    Gillette Wilkinson (3)
    Semogue Owners Club badger
Gold Dachs Sandalwood soap in a warm mug
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Sante Homme AS

Three shaves now with this recently acquired "H" Slim using three different blades and it definitely gives a harsher shave than my "J" Slim at the same setting. Makes me wonder if there were any engineering/design changes from one year to the next or if not all adjustable razors are exactly the same at the same settings. Or maybe this one is just off a bit. Me thinks I need to put a blade in each and look at them under the magnifying glass.

    SOTD Oct 31

    Prep:
    hot shower
    Razor: Weishi
    Blade: Bolzano (day 4)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Col Conk lime
    Passes: 3 (WTG, XTG, ATG)
    Post: Proraso Blue AS balm

Two passes just didn't cut it this morning, so I added an ATG pass. I'm not sure if the closeness was worth the irritation, not that there was much.

    Gem Contour razor Treet blade
    Lea Sensitive SC
    Whipped Dog Silvertip brush
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel/Sage mix
    Pinaud Clubman A/S

A good retirement day shave. The Contour shaves ok, I get a good shave but only with a lot of work. Don't think this razor could be my everyday user.

Thanks, Bruce! I think I'll probably bring the Big Joseph Rodgers, due to its sheer size, 'scary' appearance, and intimidation factor. :signs136: Gotta make this demonstration dramatic!
