    Great post. Thanks.
I have my first ever SE razors en route to me...and am very curious to try them out.

I got poor reduction with the EverReady 1912, but get superb results with the Pushbutton. The Micromatic is the most aggressive SE IMHO. There are indeed big differences between the different SE razors.

    9. Don't attempt ATG under you nose. I just won't work without injury. Instead, do XTG passes right to left and left to right.

So true. Tried this with the 1914 and almost lost a piece of my nostril.

Glad I read up on this, even though I am under the impression and have been informed that my "First" Se razor is very mild. I still need to get it in the mail however.

Somehow or other, I'm able to go ATG under my nose with my SEs with no problem. I just make very, very short strokes and keep the skin taut. Seems to work for me, though I don't doubt it may be problematic for others.

Awesome info. Once NO Vember is over, I will use this info and tackle my single edge again.

Thanks for some great information, I will use this when I get my first SE in the mail next week. I's a GEM Featherweight that I am looking forward to trying. I may have a leg up on some as I have used a SR, injector, and DE's before, especially using the injector and a SR

Wait a second, Penguins don't have noses!

Very good advice though, especially about making sure the blade is seated and using shaving blades.

  19. An old thread, but a great tutorial!

I would add that, for some SE razors (Micromatic, for example), it helps to keep the cap/top of the razor close to one's skin. As the angle moves closer to 90 degrees with the skin, the razor behaves in a more aggressive manner.

I have learned and agree with #9. Don't shave under the nose ATG. I now do XTG. I can still nick but, not always. When I was trying to go ATG, I always cut myself. I can anywhere else on my face but not under the nose.
These are some really good tips.
