I'm almost out of my original puck I bought when I started this adventure. Good thing my Walmart down the road is carrying it now!!

The VDH Luxury soap is very good. The bowl and stand are top notch. I got the badger brush which shed like crazy. The boar may be better. I don't know.

I have both of those. My badger sheds a hair or two every once n a while. And I'm rough with it. The luxury soap... I love it!

Do yourself a favor, if you buy a VDH brush, buy the green, blue or white handle boar brushes. They hold up much better than the black handle badger or boars. IMO the white handle ones are the best. I've been using these for years and years with no problem.

Wonder if it's quality control issues, because I have their badger and its hardly shed a hair in almost a year.

Although I now use Arko pretty much exclusively, my first soap was VDH Delux and I liked it a lot!! :)..

My Walmart doesn't carry it but the grocery store at the corner does. As for the brush, I had the black handle badger and it shed a bit the first dozen times I used it and I payed it forward to my brother in law a year ago and it's still going strong!
Maybe the brush is hit or miss on quality.

    Luxury? meh...
It's ok, but the Deluxe just runs off and leaves the luxury behind.

An Omega 48 boar brush and two cakes of VDH Deluxe.
Exactly what any shaving newb needs to be successful. :)

Is the luxury soap a hard soap, or a a softer glycerin soap like the deluxe?

VDH is one soap that I have wanted to try since I started, out of curiosity. But living in Sweden makes is cost prohibitive

I use it once in a while. It's not bad. I like the mild smell. The first soap I ever used was Williams. VDH was my second. I thought it was a step up. In fact, last night I bought some new pottery to hold it in.

I received that shaving set for Christmas last year since the in-laws know I've been into DE shaving for several years. I was a little skeptical but found the soaps in that line to be very nice. My brush works very well and has only shed a couple hairs. It does smell a bit though.

I also like the VDH scented Luxury soap. Keep a puck in an empty TOBs container and use it every now and then. Nice mild and pleasant scent too.
