So I rendered off 15# of beef tallow yesterday and am going to use it to test a couple soaps out.
I actually tried shaving with a simple 100% tallow soap I made last week and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I plan on a batch with some castor oil added and possibly another with stearic acid from a hundred years ago I found.
    Any suggestions?

    Jealous,

Suet is a PITA to come by in these parts. I love having tallow around for soap making and cooking.

Try it, & show us some pics, if you like the results. Assuming you do like the results, why not experiment with adding some fragrance?

I'm blessed to have a butcher that still butchers. He saves up to 20# at a time in his freezer, cryovac'd in convenient 5# bags. Charges me a pittance.

I'll try to remember to take pictures of the next batch

My butcher is now a financial advisor.
