While out spending the day celebrating 25 yrs of marriage, we stopped into a shop and I picked up some PdP no. 63.
Solingen, Germany, has for many years been a symbol for quality steel and cutlery (much like Sheffield, England). Manufacturers aren't hesitant of labeling or branding goods as 'Solingen-made' as it has earned a reputation for top quality.
Congrats!! And you managed to make it 25 years with a name like " GRUMP "!! Now that's an accomplishment!
Have you noticed some soap makers are putting how long the product is good for? You see the can with the lid open and 12m. Interesting.
Received two razors from my now somewhat shrinking 'waiting on'-list. 1) A STAR DE razor in gold For some inexplicable reason I was also sent the tray (soap dish maybe?) that the razor was photographed on. Not sure what to do with that...I guess it'll be one of those things that I'll find in a box years from now and wonder "Where in the world does this come from?" 2) A Le Touriste No. 2 SE razor I was childishly excited about being able to pick up this razor in such a great condition and let me tell you - it did not disappoint when it arrived. It is truly beautiful. It has just such a beautiful and simple way of securing the blade. I have yet to figure out if I can use a modern blade in it but I must admit I'm tempted to try and get these old blades honed and put to use - I mean it came with the original strop handle
WoW! Just Wow! I had to squint to look at them?! I don't know if was to avoid crying from jealousy or to dampen the glare from the beauty and shine! Congrats on a truely fantastic find.
Thanks The Le Touriste is just so visually and functionally appealing to me due to it's simple design. It comes apart like this btw;
Made a second trip back to L'Occitone and picked up a puck of their shave soap and a bar of Verbana bath soap. Also found a 40's Gillette TTO, a Rubberset brush and a pack of Gillette Spoiler blades at a flea market for $20 Pics to follow when I get home.
