I have been redoing my bathroom, and at the same time just started to get into DE shaving. This is what I have so far. Only have one razor, one brush, and one soap so far. So, here it is...
Welcome to the den. Nice setup! If I might suggest, don't rush in too far too fast. Enjoy it and savor the shaves. You have good tools there. No need for more right now. Experience is priceless.
Lol, this is my first gear so far. I actually just bought a sweet vintage Boker straight razor while ago. Whos the person to talk to about getting it honed and shave ready?
i set the over under at 2 weeks.....and the bet is that he will post in the haul. @Joel W....welcome, great setup, how do you like that soap? and great work on the bathroom aswell...very cool
Clean and UNCLUTTERED! That's the way my bathroom used to look! As others have said, you're off to a great start! And enjoy that Merkur & Semogue! Both fine products. The Conk I have no experience with, but the reviews on it's overall lather performance are mixed. Nivea makes a fine, reasonably-priced balm.
I'm not sure if @HolyRollah offers honing or if he just does it for his personal razors but if not there is also @gssixgun
I do—but mainly just for interested TSD members. Glen's a pro at and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services (plus, he's a TSD Vendor): www.gemstarcustoms.com
Here is what I bought. Not sure if its anything special or not. Can anyone tell me if I bought junk or do you think its ok?
The soap is pretty good for the money. It lathers very easy, and has a unique smell to it. Overall, I like it.
A warm welcome to you from North Texas. You might want to take a look at some of the references contained in my signature line below for discussions of the 30 Day systems and more on shaving hardware and software. With that being said ... Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
to TSD "Joel W" You have a nice kit! While I've never used a Semouge brush, I've heard many good things about them, I own a Merkur HD and have used Col Conk soap( it's good stuff, but if you'd like to try a good soap that costs even less, next time try some Arko) and I use Nivea "post shave balm" after every shave. As long as the gear you have works for you, one of each is all you need.
