Never bought it, never tried it. Went to the store today and emptied the shelf. Put one puck in a mug and I'll try shaving with it tomorrow. Had fun stacking it a couple of different ways but I should have stopped at a another store and got a few more.
If you shave with your Williams soap at least once a week you will have enough to last at least 25 years...a puck seems to last forever...
You beat me to it. I was thinking to do the same thing. I picked up the last 10 pucks from my local grocer and was going to post pics of a puck pyramid. I currently have a puck in an old barbasol glass container that was my wife's grandfather's. I do believe you may have started a show your williams puck pyramid pics thread.
Well I clicked there like it said. It took me to an informative post on menthol williams soap that looked macaroni and cheese. This whole williams being discontinued is sure creating more talk about the soap in the last day than has been said about it in the last decade. Well played Mr. Williams, well played.
I believe it is now technically a collector's item and if you go to Walgreens and buy one you can refer to it as having "scored a NOS puck".
The historian in me hates this, as Williams has been around over 150 years and I hate to see traditional items and products that have lasted that long fade away. On the other hand, the EPA is sending out celebratory letters that another source of environmental toxins has been phased out. I do wonder, though, at what point it becomes "vintage" and everyone starts singing its praises when compared to something newer. Maybe that's the company's strategy.....create another, less tolerable Williams and watch the market for the "new vintage" explode to increase profits. Stranger things have happened.
Wow, 150 years? That is amazing. I don't think they will discontinue it so that they will be able to make a come back with it. I think this is for good
For me Williams soap being discontinued really means nothing because I never had too much success with it. There are so many better soaps available.
