I just picked up my 100 new Gillette Platinum blades that I ordered from KLF here on the board. As usual, immediate shipping and quick delivery from Israel. Thanks Liorfe!
I'll be exploring a couple of new-to-me soaps this month, and watching @HolyRollah's sell-off with great interest.
Thanks Guys! I just realized that the lighting makes the razor look like it might have a gold finish. It's nickel. I watched a video from Razor Emporium: How to and How Not to Clean a Vintage Razor. Great advice and it gave me the confidence I wasn't going to mess it up.
Geez, I better get my act together— collect some stuff, take some purdy pictures and post a 'for sale' sign. hopefully this will happen within the next two weeks….
Just snaffled up an unused Swing travel razor, all in stainless steel I hope. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/321823388898
Now THAT's the kind of info folks come to TSD for! Also, my discerning eye noticed the blade is 'MADE IN U.S.A.' Your welcome!
On a somewhat more serious note people do seem to love these vintage thin blades. Here's a thread on the topic. It appears to be a carbon blade. Your blade seems to be from 1951 (but the patent numbers are different...so maybe not) (Once again, my deep insight and knowledge is really shining through here....) http://mr-razor.com/Rasierklingen/Rasierklingen.htm Your patent numbers matches this from 1950: And your date code is from 1951: So, ergo, I declare them to be early-1951 blades
