30 Day Rule with The Phoenix

    image.jpg

    Phoenix Double OC
    Rapira Swedish Supersteel
    L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    La Toja Shave Stick
    Alum
    Florida Water +
    M Bomb
Day 2 on this blade. I am going to spend this month trying to develop a routine that is standardized and replicable. From shave stick application, to Alum, and everything in between, I am trying to do it the same each day. Turns out there are only 8 Rapira, so each blade needs to go at least four days, not that I am concerned. Focused on blade angle, I am working on a new strategy for chin area. Have not exactly figured it out yet. Overall, it was a nice and easy 2 passes to automatic smoothness. So far the Phoenix is a very smooth shaver, it looks like this month should end up great. Alum felt good today and the FW is always nice on a summer day. After my shave, I enjoyed a 78F evening with Mrs. Samurai. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!
    :)

    Gillette Slim G3 (3)
    Feather blade (2)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

This was my second close and comfortable shave with the Slim. First impressions are great! Maybe it's just the two razors that I have, bit the Slim handle seems more grippy than my FB. Time for work! Have a great Tuesday!

Vacation time with an Italian Razor

I am on vacation and I decided to take with me my latest Mastro Livi "Rasoio Italiano", this magnificent beauty made of artisan stainless damascus steel, of course made by Mastro Livi himself. I thought this "Italian razor" needed a good companion so I paired it with the well known Omega bristle brush "bandiera italiana" because of its three bands handle having the color of the Italian flag. I guess they look great together and the brush is the usual Omega lathering maker: it made a huge amount of lather with my artisan shaving soap. As for Mastro Livi stainless steel damascus, the more I use it the more I realize this one is a super efficient and amazing blade, absolutely an impeccable and extraordinary super performing straight razor. To put the icing on the cake and to get a relief from this summer heat, I got a super cooling breeze from my Thyrrenus aftershave, the one I especially made for summertime with a strong refreshing effect on the skin. The right cooling touch for this super hot summer!
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: RazorGuy Shaving Soap
    • Brush: Omega "Bandiera Italiana" 21762
    • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi Stainless Damascus "Rasoio Italiano", 8/8 Full Hollow, Spanish Point
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
    • After Shave: RazorGuy Thyrrenus

Great shave just now. The Glacial Lavender soap felt like liquid nitrogen on my face and the Penguin provided that nice additional menthol blitz which I love so much!

    30 day Focus - Day 3
    MDC Lavender Face Lathered
Sputnik Blade (Day 1 on blade, Day 3 on Sputnik)
    Slim Adjustable set to 8
    3 passes

The new blade produced a tug-free shave today. But, I have noticed that the Sputnik just doesn't seem to leave me as clean shaven as the Ladas. I have been getting good shaves, but my face has felt rougher late at night than when I use the Ladas.
