I'm looking to purchase a badger brush. I don't know anything about these. So what badger brush do you recommend. Also what are your favorite badgers?

Maybe you can work out something with Jim. I am using one of his brushes today. It's a great hand carved brush with a quality best badger knot. My best lathering brush. Happy hunting, Michael.

Personally I prefer Silver Tip, High Mountain, Finest, and Boar. YMMV. You can always check out www.whippeddog.com
I also have all those same brushes that I don't care for. Good luck!

Just starting with a badger Thater makes very nice brushes. Everyone will have their opinions and I really like several brands but the Thaters have always been great brushes.

If your budget is 40 ish, get a Whipped Dog Silvertip. Pay the few bucks to have Larry set it a bit deeper in the handle.

:signs011: I have a couple of Larry's brushes and I like his silvertips a lot. Plus he will work with you on special orders. I once needed one of his handles drilled with a slightly wider diameter (to salvage a nice knot for a friend) and he did it for me, for just a few extra bucks.

Although I don't own a WhipDog brush, I have never heard a negative word about 'em.

You haven't read any Whipped Dog threads I posted in, then. :)
I would also recommend the Silvertip. Avoid the Whipped Dog High Mountain, (it's many things, but a high mountain badger knot ain't one of them). It's actually a grey badger knot, which is a fancy way of saying it's made from a little bit of everything.

Stick with the Silvertip. It's a decent knot for the price.

My favorite is Whipped Dog's silver tip badger in the 24 mm.

The above link is to a Kent BLK2 badger hair brush. I have only used mine to test lather 3 times, and to shave with once. I can tell you without reservations it is the best brush I have used to date. For the last two and a half years I have been experimenting with different inexpensive brushes, both badger and boar, and I even have two synthetics. But this Kent is hands down the best. I don't think you can go wrong at this price. As always though, YMMV. Good luck in whatever you decide. Have a great day.

Omega makes good badger hair brushes which are reasonably priced.
