Hello guys! I'm a signpainter, woodworker, welder, boatbuilder, and single-speed bike builder and rider. I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I wanted to try taking better 'product shots'. Here's the results of simply using a background 'sweep' when I took a pic of my Walnut razor stand I built shortly after I bought my first DE (pictured), a Merkur HD. I've bought and used both a new Dovo 'Tortoise' and restored a Hess '44', but 99% of the time, I'm using my HD. As far as signs go, I'm what we call in the trade a 'Letterhead'---I love the old-school hand-lettering! I also enjoy making signs that appear old, or 'ghost signs', especially railroad themed signs . I'll attach a few pics of those here too. There's a pic here of me doing some lettering on brick at Potbelly's corporate HQ in Chicago as well. Well, that's about it! If you want to check out more of my sign stuff, my shop facebook page is 'Gasser Signs & Lettering'. Mark
Welcome to The Den Mark! I made it halfway through the Danish 3 year training to become a signmaker, before I unfortunately had to stop. Sadly anything that involves actual paint isn't part of the curriculum any more - It's all PC's and printers
Welcome Mark! Nice work you do there. Don't be intimidated by the Pros here. Many of us use our phone cameras. No light boxes, tripods, or SLR's. A little bit of PhotoShop doesn't hurt Your stand, mahogany?
Yeah, it's a very small community in the US too. The loose organization is called the 'Letterheads'. There are meets and other events pretty regularly. Hand-lettering is starting to get more attention as everyone has become numb to stickers! (usually poorly-designed stickers, at that!) There is bad hand-lettering out there too, but people definitely notice when you put some good painted signs in front of them!
to TSD "SignpainterMark" I hope you enjoy it here. Your razor/brush stand is "Beautiful", I hope your shaves have become just as nice since you've taken up "traditional" shaving.
Welcome Mark. You do some nice work there. I also love that razor stand. Very nice! You've just joined a great group with people that have tons of knowledge on DE razors and also pretty much anything else. We're glad you joined!
