2 weeks ago, I posted this thread about one of my latest acquisitions - a United States Army-issued 1918 Gillette Khaki set in the metal cloth-covered case. Today I present one of my latest acquisitions: a United States Army-issued 1918 Gillette Khaki set in the roll-up cloth pouch. Even better, it's the rare single-button-closure version. The more common roll-up cloth pouch version seen is the one with two-button-closure as seen here. As with the previous Khaki set I posted, this one too is one of the first made specifically for the United States Army for World War I, in the fist year of war production, 1918, as its serial number is J 846. No bent, broken, chipped or missing teeth and no cracks in the handle. Very good condition set.
Damn, dude! That is awesome! That pouch looks like it just came off the "showroom floor". In fact the whole thing does. Beautiful set, Jody. Congrats! :2thumbs:
Not quite. Still have the these 4 to get: 2-button Khaki Set U.S. Service Set Khaki Bulldog Combination Set U.S. Navy Set
Some of my best shaves come from a similar 1918 US ARMY Khaki Set razor... The case was in far worse condition Original handle was ok,but I like this setup:
*facepalms* I have been only staring at original sets. Haven't thought about using a different handle, perhaps this could help my picky self when finding something since so many WWI Gillettes have cracked handles.
Yep, I use Gillette old type head pieces on my Bob's Razor Works Bull Mastiff Deluxe XXL With Flared Knob handle often. I also use that handle on my Muhle 2001 R41 head pieces.
