Well here is a razor that although is not in perfect shape is still a nice razor nonetheless. I got it on a auction and it looked bad, but you take a risk when you buy razors remotely. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it does not. This a Silver plated Gillette 1921 Tuckaway. I had to go through the baking soda method to restore as much Silver as possible before polishing to keep as much Silver on the razor and not on a polishing rag as an oxide. The restoration method is available on this thread: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/another-gillette-single-ring-cleaning-picture-heavy.25538/ Here are the before pictures. Here are the after pictures. Now there are some flaws in this. There is a crack in the handle at the flange that goes to the head, the base plate has a couple of teeth that are bent and the head has a small loss of plating, but all in all a nice razor.
Beautiful restore! I saw a gold one, in a case, at an antique store yesterday. I didn't get it out of the display case, but it looked fantastic. I would liked to have bought it, but at $85 it was out of my price range.
I got my 1921 tuckaway , passed down from my great uncle, Monsignor Thomas McCoy, Catholic priest, St Marys, Danvers Mass.((back in the 40s-50s) I still use it in my rotation,,great little razor.
