Is the 1946 Milford the only year that the handle was made with a smooth turning above the tto?

I can't say anything about the '46. I had a '48 or '49 that I recently gave away and it had a knurled handle.

Hello flatter, there were several years the Gillette Milord had the smooth band above the TTO knob. If I recall the years were, - 1940,1941,1946, and 1947. The 1940/41 don't have endcaps, and the 1946/47 do have endcaps. I hope this input helps you. Good luck!

    Here's some photos -

    And here is the 1946/47-

From 1948 onward, the milord case had a space for a ten blade Gillette Blue Blade dispenser, and from 1948 onward the Milord razor had a notched center bar on both ends, and no longer had the smooth band around the handle above the TTO knob. I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the input. From what I can gather, it seems the Milford was produced in 1940 then a gap until 1946 and continued to be made up to 1953. Although there were a few made with a smooth ring above the TTO, I think the 1946 was the only one with the smooth ring and with end caps. If I,m mistaken, please let me know. Thanks again for the input.

    Milord (not Milford):
1940: no endcaps, no notches, smooth ring with patent information, no date code, Made in USA
1946: with endcaps, no notches, smooth ring without patent information, no date code, Made in U.S.A.
1947: with endcaps, no notches, no smooth ring, no date code, Made in U.S.A.
1949: with endcaps, notches, no smooth ring, no date code, Made in U.S.A.
1951: with endcaps, notches, no smooth ring, with date code, Made in U.S.A.

Another thing to look for is whether the USA is USA or U.S.A.

I have a '47 Milord...just above the knurling on the handle is a flat shoulder milled into the neck. According to the images on mr razor's site, 1947 was the only year this flat shoulder appeared. Oh, and in 1947-on, the base plate was creased.

Crease in base plate...the '41 & '46 lacked this crease.

Off-topic, but from what I gathered, the only difference between 1948 and 1949 Super Speeds was the box (or case) they came in. Is this correct?

Don't feel bad. I used to call it Milford, too. I don't know where I picked that up.
