You've probably seen these two Barbasol razors before...

    1920s

    1930s

But if I were a wagering man, I'd say most everyone hasn't ever seen this one....

Same head as the 1930s version but with a plastic handle. Marked PAT. PEND. on the end of the tapered handle. It's a 2-piece and whole plastic handle turns to loose the head cap. It was an impulse buy for 15 bucks because I'd never seen this one before. It looks like it was probably a World War II military issue razor as most razors during this time with Bakelite or plastic handles, were military issue or at least only available for purchase in military stores and commissaries. Anyway, it's cleaned up and I'll take it for a spin eventually.

And yes, I need to clean my desk.. bad...

    Cool! Thanks for sharing!

I have a Barbie floating head and like it very much, but I have not seen one like yours posted here until now.

They also made an open comb of that version. I just received a Conrad which is the same as the open comb. I haven't used it yet, but it is on the upcoming list of things to try.

I only see 1 on eBay right now and it's the 1920s model.

The 1930s model was made by PAL and was also made in England. I have the English version of that razor. Heavy and very, very aggressive!

Got one of the plastic Barbasol razors, I know I've had it for well over a year now, just searched and for some reason I never posted it in the haul. :think002

Only used the razor once though, I don't get along too well with aggressive razors.

Guys, is there such a thing as a Barbasol razor that has a 2 piece head (floating version) similar to the tech and new heads that are so common? I'm thinking if they made such a thing, maybe it would be a good head to use on a spare threaded handle I have laying around.

There's no such beast in existence that I know of. All 4 models of the Barbasol razor has the guard attached to the handle.

This is what's known as the "floating head" Barbasol:

It's called that because they slightly redesigned the blade bed/guard on it but it looks identical to the non-floating head Barbasol.

EDIT: I have seen what someone claims to be a Barbasol head on a screw-on Durham Duplex handle but I've yet to see a Barbasol razor that had a screw on handle. So I'm thinking they did some sort of machinery modification to get the head off the Barbasol and to where it would accept the threaded part of the Durham handle.

I've got one of the floating head models and use it regularly because I really like it. Too bad they didn't make just the head!

Great collection man! Where on earth are you finding these gems?? Got to take my hat off to you. I was lucky enough to acquire a 30's Barby and I will break it out once in a blue moon for that special ocassion shave. It holds a special place in my modest collection. A great shaving razor.

I come across my goodies in all kinds of places... different web sites, flea markets, other collectors, different shaving forums, family members that run an estate liquidation business. Patience is the key.
