http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43482990/ns/technology_and_science-tech_and_gadgets/ - 11 minutes ago - The Zafirro Iridium razor has sapphire blades and a handle made primarily from iridium, one of the rarest and strongest metals in existence — and it'll last you for a decade. But is that enough to make you fork over $100,000? If it is, then you better hurry up and place an order — because only 99 of these razors are being made. The limited availability and cost is mainly due to the fact that iridium, the material used to craft the tool's handle, is extremely rare — ten times more rare than platinum, according to Zafirro. It is a material which is primarily used in "the aerospace industry for components such as rocket engines where durability is critical," the company boasts. Of course, the iridium handle isn't the only thing contributing to this particular tool's limited availability and cost. Its solid white sapphire blades — while extremely sharp, hypoallergenic, and just about impervious to oxidation and corrosion — certainly don't help keep the price reasonable. But who cares about the price tag when you can have be part of a small group of Zafirro Iridium razor-wielding individuals, right? If that distinction isn't enough to make you reach for your wallet, then just remember that it will supposedly last you for a decade. During that time Zafirro will provide free servicing, professional cleaning, and resharpening if necessary.
What a deal. That would only be $10,000 a year for ten years. So during that time you get free oil changes and free rotation. What more could you want.happy102
Well guess it is for the pro sports people that own $50+ million Gulfstreams and make millions endorsing underware, soft drinks, golf balls, and shirts? :signs131
For a hundred grand it should shave for me. Now that I think about it, for less than that I could have my very own barber give me a professional straight shave everyday, if I was wealthy.
I'll surely never know from experience what it would be like to be rich enough for this razor even to be a possibility. I'd speculate that even the very wealthy might not see much point in demonstrating their wealth by buying this particular item. Still, who knows? Some of us have different ADs, and spend more than we really need to, but at least we get variety for our money. Someone who was wealthy and interested enough to spend $100,000 on shaving gear could put together one heck of a vintage razor collection.
wow that's a mighty fine machine does it vibrate too? :happy102 On a slightly more serious note I'm wondering what a straight razor made of white sapphire would look like and how it would shave...I might even put down money to get one of those of course...it'd be very very little money
Hmmmm, I don't know...... Will the madness stop? Sapphire blades that last ten years, 100% iridium handle. And it ain't even a DE. Well, I guess if you already have a yacht........
That would make an interesting SOTD picture. Do they make a matching brush? "and it'll last you for a decade." Wow only a decade? That's not really that long for a razor?
Yes but it is unicorn hair mixed with the hair of Zeus. Then of course the handle is carved out of a massive ruby. This brush can be yours for 5 easy payments of $100,000. :happy102
I wonder how much the price of maintenance would be for this razor after the ten year warranty expires?
