Hi All, I'm looking for anyone's thoughts on switching to either the Opera browser or the new Vivaldi one. Firefox has become just too slow and bloated for me... it takes over 30 seconds to launch and accept input on my Kubuntu (Linux w/ KDE) systems. It used to be fast. I used Opera a good while back until it started bloating up with mail and chat clients, which I see are now gone. Vivaldi is the new kid on the block, but I think I saw something a while back about privacy concerns with the beta. In any case, both are faster than the current (and last several) FFs. Any thoughts? Thanks!
+1 for Chrome. Been using it for a few years now. I used to use FF but gave it up when I noticed it slowing down more than three years ago. I tried Opera a while back, not bad I just didn't feel like switching away from Chrome. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab using Tapatalk
Why is a penguin in such a hurry? Does it really matter if you have the fastest browser? That's a Budha Penguin if you don't recognize it.
Now, I've seen everything. It really messes with my "zen" when programs take ridiculously long to load.
Be patient my son and you will in time, experience the quickening of the Firefox..and so it is written..and so it is the way of things..
I use Chrome because of the popup blocker. When I use another browser, I see all the stuff I am missing with the popup blocker. That is why I stick with Chrome.
Out of the two mentioned, I'd go with opera. It is a very solid browser. If you have a smartphone they also have a mobile app as well, and will sync your open tabs between your computer and phone similar to chrome and Firefox Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Rich, I'm with you 100% on both Chrome and FF (which I'm still using). I'm on the update channel and they're only now gradually reducing the lag that seems to have always plagued FF. The only reason I still use it is the themes and the add-ons. I never could get the hang of Opera's layout. It doesn't have many bells and whistles (almost none, last time I checked) but K-Meleon has always been small and pretty speedy, but Windows 98 clunky looking. I think it's still maintained. You might also try the Pale Moon fork of FF.
