TSD is a great place to hang out. Lots of great information and good banter. As for boorish, uncouth, rude, unkind, ill-mannered trolls...I have said this before, but it is worth saying again...I find that if I tip my top hat at just the right angle, I find it blocks them from my view.
Related - I host/run several forums - one IRC related, the others web comic related - and I'll say that they tend to be more like here. The automotive forums I've been on? The same. It seems like the shaving forums are more polarized, weirdly, than many other topics. (One more than the rest) This has been the mildest I've spent time reading through in the last *cough* decade or so.
I used to frequent a couple guitar forums, and most of them made the worst shaving forums look downright pleasant... Hard to believe grown men and women can act worse than a room full of toddlers who missed their nap...
I'll take your word for it. I don't believe I've ever seen a guitar forum at all, and it sounds like I don't want to.
